A Polymer-Housed Metal-Oxide Lightning Arrester is designed to protect electrical systems (such as solar inverters, transformers, and distribution panels) from over-voltage surges caused by lightning or switching operations. Unlike porcelain types, the polymer housing makes it lightweight, weather-resistant, and safer against breakage. It contains metal-oxide varistors (MOVs) which absorb and safely discharge excess energy to the ground, preventing damage to sensitive equipment.
